macOS Sierra reminder notifications shows 1 but none there

I'm running the latest official release of macOS Sierra v10.12

Everytime I turn my MacBook on, I am seeing that there is 1 reminder on my reminders app. Open it and nothing there. I have followed Apple's steps on turning reminders off in iCloud and turning them back on, and restarting as well as restarting before turning Reminders back on, to no other outcome. 😟

Has anyone else found a fix for this, that maybe having the same issue?

Hi there, HMILLER75. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities!
It looks as if you're getting a Reminder that doesn't actually exist on your MacBook Pro that was upgraded to macOS Sierra. You've completed a great troubleshooting step but since it hasn't helped I have some additional steps for you.
With the Reminders app open on your Mac, close it using the Menu option (Reminders > Quit Reminders) then hold down the left shift key while reopening Reminders to clear out the cache.
Try safe mode if your Mac doesn‘t finish starting up -- Not only is safe mode recommended when your Mac isn't starting up, it also clears out system caches and makes certain your Mac is starting up correctly.

These steps should clear out the Reminders that don't actually reside on your Mac. Have a great day!

Thank you for trying those steps though, HMILLER75. Since your Reminders should disappear once you've cleared them, I'll help you figure out if this is just an issue with your user account or if this is system-wide on your Mac.
How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac -- Follow the directions in this article to verify where the issue is located.

Take care and thanks again!

Hi,

I've also upgraded my Early 2015 MBP 13" Retina to macOS Sierra 10.12 since the release date and since then my Reminders notification badge icon shows "1" even though I've no reminders outdated. On my iPhone 6, iPad Pro 9,7" (both with iOS 10.0.2) and iCloud no badge are shown. How can I resolve this issue?

I've tried:

  • disabling the badge option in settings and resetting the MBP;
  • typing in Terminal the command "killall -KILL Dock" both with "sudo" and without it;
  • logging out and logging in again to my iCloud account;
  • created a new user account with my credentials and logged in to iCloud;
  • went into Safe Mode to try clearing the cache

no results at all, still "1" icon badge is shown.

Any other suggestion please?
